I was recently invited to train 125+ faculty members of Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati on the subject of Innovation. The weather was pretty refreshing, light rain, clouds and lush greenery everywhere. But, what was even more energizing was the openness of the faculty members to embrace the concept of Mind Maps for teaching, learning and of course innovation.
Creative ideas can come from anywhere but to transform them into Innovation they need to be churned with the knowledge of the faculty members, the creative/curious energy of the students and of course the experience of the industry. Our late president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam put it very aptly when he said “Creativity is the celebration of Innovation.”
Is indeed very encouraging to note that industry buzzwords like “establishing a culture of innovation” are now finding their way into the corridors of the universities in India. The journey is, of course, long with many a challenges ahead but every daybreak happens with the first ray of the sun and the positive feedbacks received from the faculty members are pointers towards the innovation to come..
